Helpful painting tip

MA is my first attempt at 15mm and also first attempt at painting figures that are multiple based. For my barbarians, I've done the following to get them painted.

I've got a bunch of coffee stirring sticks from work (about 5 inches long) and glued them onto cereal packet (did 2 by 1 sticks) and cut around the sticks (leaving a bit of an edge around them).

Stuck some double sided tape over the sticks and then staggered my barbarians across on the top part of the tape (can get about 8 models per 'stand' in this way).

Makes it easier to quickly spray the undercoat on them (and gets good coverage of front and back) and also gives decent access when painting. I've used fairly strong double sided tape and it's doing well - haven't had models falling off during painting.

Hope this is useful

Re: Helpful painting tip

I've used a similar method for spray painting and priming my figures and it works very well.  When it gets time to put on the details, I have found it works better for me to glue each figure to the head of  a roofing nail.  I have a board about 6" X 9" with holes drilled in it where I can put the nails so the figures can dry.  I had problems getting to all the small details when the figures were mounted on the same stick.  I have seen it done that way and it works very well, I just had a little more difficulty painting that way.   I use hot-melt glue to attach the figures and it holds strong enough to paint them, but will pop off when using a small screwdirver to pry them off when you are ready to base them.

Here's a picture of what I was talking about in my previous post.  Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.
