6mm Minis

Hey any one here painted 6 mm figures before? I am getting a few to paint up. Any tips and helpful hints. I would be very happy to hear

Re: 6mm Minis

Hey Wolfen,

I've painted 6mm British Infantry for use with my War of the Worlds models and also some 6mm modern army minis for my Giant Monster Rampage games.

The method I have used is use a base colour and only ever up to one highlight (any more and the mini doesn't look right).

For the faces, I do a swish across the face with a skin colour and then once dry, lightly paint a wash over it.

When painting uniforms etc... I always make sure I leave a line of the black undercoat showing to differentiate the areas of the model.

I have found these things really make the models look rather nice on the table. Remember at 6mm, there isn't a lot of detail anyway, so no need to get carried away.

I'll have some photos of my 6mm minis up on my blog soon, as I've been working on my Kaiju terrain whilst waiting for more bases to arrive (and the Slitering Death and Swamp Dweller armies)

I hope that helps,

- Ben.

Re: 6mm Minis

I have my 6mm based on 40x20mm stands (same as my 10mm ones) and have kept all the movement etc the same. Works well. :)

Ben.

Re: 6mm Minis

I am wanting to cut both the 25mm x 50 mm and the 50mm x 500mm in half that way I can get a larger army in a smaller area this way also I can take full advanage of the 6mm figures the infantry is in strips of 4 and the cavalry is in strips of 3. Each strip would make a base. You could make a 6 mm army fairly large and cheap. That way also you can play a larger army but still keep the playing field small. Well that is my idea anyways. lol
