Re: Minwax Ployshade Technique

Thanks for the info, Mike.  I may try the Crytal Clear as well.  If Wal-Mart has the Testors I may try both.

Re: Minwax Ployshade Technique
I've used the dipping method as well and liked the early results, however it seems I've lost a bit of my touch, (hard to see why, invert figure then dip) and have not been overly happy with latest results. However my earlier figures were better sculpts then that latter ones which may have a lot to do with it. I've also used a clear coat spray that I found at walmart, it does not get the shading that the Dipping Method provides but it looks very nice on a painted mini.

Here is a link to a tutorial for the "DIPPING METHOD" it's where I learned about it.

Re: Minwax Ployshade Technique

I have used a modified dipping method.  I have had better luck putting on the Minwax Polyshade with a brush.  I found it easier to put the shading where I want it.  I am getting ready to try some Testors Dull Cote to tone done the shiny spots.  I have also purchased some clear matte spray from Hobby Lobby.  I let you know how it comes out.

Re: Minwax Ployshade Technique

Here is a picture showing how well the Polyshade works.  You can really see the detail in the linen armor.  The shading stayed in the groves and really set it apart.
