State of the Rebellion Address
Modified By RebelMike on 3/19/2008 4:55:10 AM)

State of the Rebellion Address
*Lol, see I was going to write State of the Union, but we are called Rebel Minis.. hehe, man it's early.

Ok, so I think it is time for some updates on some of the things we have been working on.

Books and Rules Sets

As most of you know, we had a good Cold Wars Show. We took that time to launch one of our modern Zombie books, Red Ops 5. I have been working on that for a while as some of you know, so I was happy to see a nice launch for that. The hardcopies are at the printers, so it is now time to move onto the next books. We had planned to release Mighty Armies in March. Right now we are in playtesting. Ultimately, alot of it has to do with the build your army rules. We have been going back and forth in a effort to keep them balanced and it is taking more time than we thought. The CORE army guides are done, we are just working out the new spells, Lvls and Monster charts. I am hoping to have more done in the middle of next month. We are getting playtest feedback almost everyday, so it is moving along nicely.

Since the core army guides are done, this actually moves Mighty Army: Ancients up in the cue. MA:A uses the same BYA styles and is pretty straight forward and plays with a simpler set of rules. MA:A is getting some final tweaks and we will be ready for the art, covers and putting it together.

Mighty Armies, Armies

Looks like the Swamp Dwellers (lizard style men) will be coming out at the first of next month. I have just gotten back the masters and they are headed off to be cast and molded. I'll still have to build the army stat sheet and a few other things, but they are looking good.

Goblin Army: Weasel Clan, sculpted by Bob Olley and designed by Splintered Light, Should be available next week.  I need to get the Stat sheet done, but I'll have army up for sale first. Here's a Pic:

Slithering Death is back from the casters and I am getting that army ready to cast. It takes some time with these pre built armies, because I am working off the Old System and I am trying to get them balanced for the new armies..

We some some more stuff in the pipeline, but it is all in the development stage. I will show you some sneak peeks though soon..

Thanks for your support!

Re: State of the Rebellion Address

Surer sounds like you are keeping busy there RebelMike. I am looking forward to see the Anicent rules. I like the idea of mixing fantasy and anicents  fighting againest each other. I am looking forward to see the Slithing Death Army. I was wondering was you going to do the rest of Splinter lights into armies here too??  Keep up the great work. and don't forget to have some fun too

Re: State of the Rebellion Address

Hi Mike,

I was curious if you guys had come up with a rule on the build your own army rules that would prohibit someone from placing all their points in any one ability?  For example a unit that might have a fighting score of 1 but a support score of 6?  A support score of 6, to me as a MA newbie seems like that would be to over the top.  Thank you to all at RM for your support and the great games!

Right now, we don't have many effects on the basic support. The main reason is support can stack and it would have an uneven effect. You can however build an uber unit by making them Veteran and stacking alot of abilities. All of this effect the AP as well and that is what balances it. I'll give you an example:

I have an Orc army I am building. Like a Warband, there are fewer units than the traditional army but I am still in 40 points. The Traditional pre built Orc army has 13 units for 40pts.  My Warband Elite Army has 7. Now they are all VERY powerful and if you engage, you'll lose alot of units. They have AP 4 when all is is said and done, but they are still very vulnerable to archers and "numbers". Does that make sense?

We will probably open Beta testing next month on Fanasty after we get some things tweaked.

Mike
