Re: Mighty Armies Ancients....

Excellent!!!  This is exactly what I was hoping for.  This will give you practically unlimited options for building armies!  And people can choose how the way to base their armies.  Now I really hope you allow me to help with playtesting.  I can't wait to see the new stuff.  Thanks, Mike.

Re: Mighty Armies Ancients....

just courious about your basing system I personaly have been basing my ancients I have to the set 1" x 2" for infantry based on the dba system of basing but I have a problem with the cavalry in this game system why is the cavalry not based on a 2"x2" this way you will not mess up your figs and it looks much better.  Besides it looks like on an army system a cav unti would be more spread out where the infantry would be more compact.  just courious why you dont use the 2" x 2" and if their was some sort of a tournament would this be a picky subjest.  If nothing else could you consider this when you put out your ancients rules I think you will find it alot easier for the dba and dbm players more willing to convert if all they had to do is throw a 2" x 2" stand under their 40mm x30mm stand.  We all know this system is much better than the dba and dbm any way

Re: Mighty Armies Ancients....

Those are some good ideas. When I bought MA, it came with a ton of 25mm x 50mm and 50mm x 50mm bases and the game was bases on using those bases. When I sell the Army, I usually include 4 infanty to a base or 4 cav.

You don't have to have 4 cav to a base, because really, it's the base value on the card , not the visual of the minis. Does that make sense?

Can you play this game based DBA? Yes you can. I think the simple rule is opponnets need to have the same size base.

Tournament play is something I am trying to figure out. Right now, Some of the playtesters are using DBA armies taped or stuck to the MA bases. Hopefully, I'll have more info soon.

Re: Mighty Armies Ancients....

I do understand what your saying about the stats.  The guys I play with we all played dba I introduces the mighty armies game about a year or so ago and the guys love the basic play of the game.  We just used plywood bases and placed our figs on them but of course the cave would not fit. so we used the larger base and found it made no difference in the game.  I personally would love to make a few armies up for this system and start playing it especially at conventions in my area.  If you all are set in stone on the cav size let me know and I will re-base them for the game.  If possible I would love to be included in the play testing of the new system and if you can give me some army list when you have them I will make armies according to them and get to promoting the game.  It is my personal hope that this system takes off and does away with dba and that dang metric system lol.  if possible base a few cav to the 50 x 50 and see how pretty they look.  they do make awesome diorama Sceans lol

thanks

Harold

Re: Mighty Armies Ancients....

All my 15mm armies are based on a 40mm frontage for games like HOTT, DBA, DBM and DBF.   Even after I buy the goblin bat clan I'll probably base them up on 40mm bases to match everything else.
