Base flexibility

G'day,

I've finished painting my Bat Goblin Clan army and so have turned my attentions to some of my other armies.

When doing an Oliphant base for my LOTR armies, I found that the figure didn't fit on the square base and that it would need to be an bit bigger depth-wise to fit it on... what is the deal with that?

Does it matter if a particularly large creature takes a bigger base? For example, instead of a 50mm x 50mm base, perhaps a 50mm x 60mm base is called for? Does this affect the game much? I know it doesn't in HOTT, but this is a different game of course... if it doesn't make a difference, how large could you go before it does? 50mm x 80mm??

I've found the same thing with alot of the 28mm cavalry. They hang over the front of the base so far that you can't move them into front edge contact with anything else... not sure what to do...

Any help would be much appreciated as I'm a bit stuck until I sort this out...

Cheers,
Ben.

Re: Base flexibility

It does not matter. Unlike DBA where a few millimeters matter , in MA, it does not. I have started stating that in the new rules as well. I told people at teh show last weekend teh same thing. It's just a game and as long as everyone at the table understands, that is all that matters :)

Which LOTR Figs are you using?

Re: Base flexibility

Thanks for such a quick reply MIke!

In 10mm, I'm using Copplestone Castings, Eureka and GW Bofa/Warmaster

In 15mm I've got alot of Eureka's "18mm fantasy range"

In 28mm I've got the usual GW stuff...

Can you tell I'm a bit of a fan.

Cheers,
Ben.
