Over the last few days I have played out a handful of fights. These were all done solo while my daughter napped or after she went to bed. Each fight took between 20 to 30 minutes to play. That included looking up special rules and rereading anything that came up. I did repeatedly forget the +1 charging bonus... but would forget it for both sides to keep it balanced. The last few games when I did remember to include the charge made loads of differance. I saw lots more kills and less ties. Over all I would have to say that this is a wonderful game. I am already itching to start a small map based campaign. I do have to say that the orcs minus the shaman and black orcs but adding the hydra tamer and catapult make for a very solid force. They lost out their first two fights against the Sorcerer Legion but utterly destroyed every other army I sent them up against. I ran very few groups larger then 4 stands but when I did I had them pay 2 MP to move or perform reforms. This seemed to balance well. Anyways this is turning into a longer post then I meant to and it is time for bed.

Last night I played a few more solo games. Dwarves vs Sorcerer Legion and Dwarves vs Orcs. The Dwarves won both games but the Sorcerers didn't even have a chance. I misused a very large group of Mutants and when the group was driven back they all died. Weak is very hard to deal with when so much of your force is waiting to be summoned. The Orcs on the other hand put up a wonderful challenge and it came down to which ever side got the next kill would win. Despite the loss of their beloved hydra by the second turn the orcs catapult laid waste to the dwarf lines. Then the Warlord and his group laid down the smack on the King and his group. But the War Engine countered nicely and managed to tear apart an entire flank of the board almost on its own. Mean while the Rangers were picking off goblin and orc hordes nearly every turn. One final Ranger shot taking down a long goblin horde won the game. Just in time too as the Warlord and his group were one turn away from finishing off the King and his last Warrior unit.
