Re: So, who wants to play test MA:DA?

Ok, read through the package. I like the changes to Group combat, and the set Army lists look good also. Just not sure what is meant by "spearmen" in the lists, as opposed to Heavy, Light and medium infantry...? Is it pikes?

Re: So, who wants to play test MA:DA?

HI Richard,

When I originally put together the lists, I tried using a combination of stats and titles from Ancients and the original fantasy lists.  The spearmen title came from fantasy.  It is meant to represent  spears.  They had a little more ability to support the front rank of a battle.  We were also taking about a Pike special ability to help this further.  It is still under discussion.

Ok, understood! The Hvy ,Med, and Lt more indicate sword/axe & shield armed troops, and the spears are spear and shield armed. I thought you were talking about Medieval 2-handed spears, and this is a little early for them! Pikes would be important in the Medieval/Rennaissence period, and for Hellenistic armies in Ancients, but not so much in DA.

That's exactly what Mike & I were thinking.  The Pike special ability and or troop type will be in MA Medieval.

Re: So, who wants to play test MA:DA?

Hey Richard,

What info was in the packet Mike sent to you?  I need to send the same stuff to John and I wanted to see what all Mike sent.  The original rules I sent to Mike was MA - Medieval and I was not sure if he had made any changes and called the document MA - Dark Ages.  There was also an army list that I sent to him.  Thanks.

Mark
